Brother to William Wordsworth and manager of the family's financial affairs. Godwin meets him in 1804 only. His connection in that year seems to be related to Godwin's brother Jo Godwin, and may be connected to Harriet's relationship with West. Accordingly, reference to Wordsworth in 1804, linked to Jo Godwin have been coded for Richard Wordsworth. There is also nothing to suggest that William Wordsworth visits London after this until 1806, so that references to Wordsworth seem, for this period at least, to be references to Richard. There is, however, no change in the way that Godwin refers to Wordsworth in April, May and June, when William Wordsworth is in London. Given connections with Southey and others these entries have been ascribed to William, but it is difficult to be certain to which of the brothers Godwin is referring. Similarly, the two meetings in 1808 coincide with William Wordsworth's visit to London and have been coded for him. Entries for 1816 relate to Godwin's visit to the Lake District. Subsequent entries are after Richard Wordsworth's death and are plausibly related to William.
