Godwin first met Wordsworth at a dinner hosted by William Frend in 1795. Wordsworth then called on him the following day and called on a number of occasions in the next few months. Contact is then diminished until 1804-6 when it reaches a peak. They remain intermittently in touch - although certainly not close - until the year before Godwin's death. Most commentators recognise the importance of Godwin to Wordsworth in the mid 1790s, while also recognising that the ardour cooled, and Wordsworth distanced himself intellectually from Godwin.
See also Richard Wordsworth (William's brother), Dorothy Wordsworth (his sister), and Mary Wordsworth (nee Hutchinson), whom Wordsworth married in 1802). The entry for Richard Wordsworth discusses the basis for differentiating entries to the two brothers given that Godwin rarely uses an initial for either.

The only reasonably firm evidence of Godwin having contact with Mary Wordsworth (the wife of William Wordsworth, the poet) was in Godwin's visit to the Wordsworthsfor two nights in April 1816 on his return from Scotland, although Godwin makes no mention of the details of his visit in his letters to his wife Mary Jane.
