Walker is in London in the summer of 1793 but there is no evidence that he met Godwin. Godwin mentions his trial in the Diary (in 1794) and he then records meeting him ('Walker Manch') early in 1795. He visits him at his home near Manchester on his return from Edinburgh in 1816. Writing about the visit in a letter to Mary Jane on 2 May 1816 he commented that he had encountered him two or three times at the house of Horne Tooke, about twenty years ago.' If we take Godwin's comment at face value it is difficult to be certain which were the Horne Tooke contacts. They may be in 1798, or it is possible that some of the entries early in 1795 are to this Walker - and these are linked to Thelwall, Lee, Iliff and Powell. The only entries we can be wholly sure of are those relating to Walker's trial , the explicit reference to Manchester, and the visit in 1816. However, the Tho Walker, and T Walker who appear in 1798 in September, first at Horne Tooke's and then at Johnson's are likely to be this Walker and have been coded accordingly.
