There are six entries for Lee between December 1794 and the middle of February 1795. There are also later Lee entries: four in July 1798; one in August 1801; and three in 1819/20.

According to the DNB, Richard Lee dies c1798/9 but there is dispute about this among scholars of the period. However, the later Lee entries are not coded (those in 1798, the one in 1801 (which is out of town); and the much later ones for 1819 and 1820). The attribution to earlier entries (1794/5) is supported by context - including contact with Iliff (whose Duties of Citizenship Lee published), Thelwall and others in radical circles (including, probably James Powell, the government spy who remained undetected, but with whose wife Lee ran off with to Hamburg in late 1795. Lee went to America and Cobbett reports him being in gaol in America in 1798. The suggestion has been that he died shortly after his release. There are four visits to Lee noted in July 1798 but these have not been coded for Richard Lee. They are all 'call on' and there is no context. It is possible that Lee comes back to Britain but there is simply insufficient evidence to make the attribution.
