See Charles's brother's DNB entry "Robert Pigott".

There are only three entries to Pigott but they seem to refer to two different people, Arthur Pigott and Charles ('the louse') Pigott. Godwin sees the latter in Newgate when visiting Frost with Joseph Gerrald and again in January of 1794 when he and Gerrald are guests at the Philomaths. Charles Pigott was the author ofThe Jockey Club and Political Dictionary, and was himself arrested in September 1793. The case did not go to trial but Pigott died in June 1794, apparently from from a fever contracted while in gaol. Hodgson, who was with him in the coffee shop, was tried and sent to gaol. Pigott's defence, published as Persecution!/(1793), never had to be used.

The first entry on 21 January 1793 is to 'Erskine and Pigot dismissed' : this probably refers to Arthur Pigott DNB who was dismissed from the ofice of Solicitor General at the end of 1792, because of his political opinions and support for Fox.'
