Losh was an reformer and philanthropist with wide literary interests. He campaigned for Catholic empancipation and the abolition of the slave trade. He was friends with Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Southey. Godwin sees him at Mackintosh's, Parr's, and others, and in 1798 meets him and sees him several times in Bath. Losh moved to Newcastle in 1799.
