Godwin's contacts with him begin in 1794 (confirmed by the 1796 list of contacts), in association with Johnson and Mackintosh. There is also a K Courtenay, which may be Courtenay's son Kenneth who was given a chaplaincy sinecure as a result of his father's services in 1802-3. Courtenay is also present at Tooke's trial and in 1796 Godwin meets him at Lauderdale's and Debrett's. The later entries are associated with Mackintosh, Tooke and Burdett. Courtenay dies in 1816. The two entries in 1821, write to Courtenay, have not been coded; nor have the six entries for K Courtenay, the four for P Courtenay, and the Courtney entries have been checked but seem not to refer to J Courtenay.
