Identification uncertain.

Thomas Bensley worked for Joseph Johnson, Longmans and Cadell & Davies and was at this time secretary of the committee of London master printers. Given his prominence in the London book trade it makes sense for him to have been at the examination of Phillips (20 August 1810). The following appear both at the Phillips examination and the Guildhall: Cullen, Letterman, Phipps, Hannam, White and Bensley. From the BBTI, Letterman likely to be Charles Letterman, bookseller (active 1800-22), Phipps and Hannam look like music sellers, Cullen possibly a bookseller/binder: the milieu suggests Bensley the printer.

Bensley's obituary from the Gentleman's Magazine VI (July-December, 1836), pp. 100-2 states that he was based in Bolt Court, Fleet Street, son of a printer, in 1800 he printed an edition of Macklin's Bible, with plates by Opie, Reynolds, West, Fuseli, Northcote, and Loutherbourg.
