Edmund Burke, politician, (1729/1730-1797). Burke’s date of birth is uncertain. It may be that Godwin recorded Burke’s birthday as Burke had earlier sworn himself sixty – honestly, if Godwin’s date is to be believed – on 17 February 1791 in order to exclude himself from committee duties.
