Mr and Mrs Williamson, proprietors of the King’s Arms public house in Old Gravel Lane just off the Ratcliff Highway were brutally mudered in 1811 along with their maid. Godwin records Williamson's death, and appears to have also noted down the death of John Williams, the suspected muderer, who hung himself in custody.
