E White first appears at Lamb's ('sup at Lamb’s , w. E White, H Robinson and Telford'), the following year includes, 'Sup at E White’s , w. Lambs, Philips, Talfourd, M Burney, Riddle and Ryal and capt. Henney', and 'Lambs, Alsager, E White, H Robinson, Lubé and E Collins sup: invités Ayrtons and Talfourd.' In 1821, 'Sup at E White’s , w. Lambs, Hazlit, Philips, Riddle, and 3 Whs.' So there is a clear link to Lamb and Lamb's letters include a reference to Edward White of the India House (Lamb to Peter Patmore, 19 July 1827). A brief account of White may be found in Cope's Reminiscences, 1891 (who says he first met White in Paris in 1832). White lived at one time at Chelsea, near the bridge, where Cope visited him; but he probably died at Twickenham.
