'Walsh and Nisbet, Sale' on 14.12.1814, which refers to the disputed ownership of 41 Skinner Street - see Locke, p. 297. Walsh and Nesbitt had been the stockbrokers who won the Skinner St properties in a lottery. They had then gone bankrupt before taking possession and the ownership of the properties was subsequently unclear. Godwin's note is to the sale of the properties by the trustees of Walsh and Nesbitt - see the Morning Chronicle on 1 December 1814 for the advertised sale, the advertisement included a reference to 'No. 41 .... Mr. Godwin, a yearly tenant'.

Of the several Walshes in the diary, it is poossible that Miss Walsh and M Walsh are identical - entries for the fomer cease after 12 November 1809 and begin for the latter on 28 December 1809. All the entries for M. Walsh are 'Write to' , save one in which 'Write to' is crossed out; and one of the Miss Walsh entries are also letters. There does not seem to be any over-lap between F and M Walsh. On 7.2.1813 Walsh dines at Godwin's with Robert Owen and on 28.3.1813 he is invited to dinner at G's, alongside Owen, A Newton and D Lamb but is unable to make it. On 28.3.1814, when several others are dining at Godwin's, he adds 'adv F Walsh and D Lamb'.
