A friend and admirer of John Philpott Curran and an advocate in criminal cases based in London after 1819. Charles Phillips (1786/7?–1859), barrister – connected to Curran ('his ‘poem, ‘The Emerald Isle’, gained Phillips an invitation to the table of the distinguished Irish advocate and judge John Philpot Curran. On Curran's death Phillips wrote a warm biographical tribute, entitled Recollections of Curran and some of his Contemporaries.’ (DNB).
