See DNB.
Probably, O'Bryen, Dennis (1755–1832), playwright and political pamphleteer, and a close associate of Sheridan and Fox's. In the diary O'Brien appears with Grey; with Stanhope and Sheridan at the French revolution dinner; and in the House of Commons on two occasions. See J Ann Hone, For the Cause of Truth for the Arthur O'Connor trial and O'Bryen's involvement in a plot for him to escape. There is a series of entries after 1798 for O'Brien that revolve largely around the theatre but also include circles associated with Curran and appearances at lectures. It seems plausible to see these as the same O'Brien and they have been coded accordingly. The same applies to the earlier entries for OBrien, O' Brien, and O'Brien.
