The Nairs were an indiginous people of India who were celebrated in a Book by Chevalier Lawrence, The Empire of the Nairs(1812). Shelley was much attracted to their practice of free love. See St Clair. This entry exists because of conviction that Godwin records a meeting involving one of the Nair, but this is currrently proving untraceable and this code should be deleted before the project goes live.
