Macready was a successful tragic actor and theatre manager at both Drury Lane and Covent Garden.
Most of the contacts could conceivably be referring instead to Macready's father, William Macready (1755-1829), also an actor and theatre manager. But there are a few meetings after his death without differentiation and the entry on 21 March 1821, 'M and T T call, and Macready (Ric. III):', indicates the younger Macready, who acted in the Covent Garden production of Richard III that restored much of the original text in the same month.
