  • Name: Knox, Vicesimus
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 8  December  1752
  • Death Date: 6  September  1821
  • Occupation: headmaster
  • Occupation: writer

Godwin records his death. There is an entry in 1791 which has been coded for Knox (given the Dr) but the entry in 1802 has not as there is no contextual evidence for a reasonably common name. That there is, seven years after Knox's death, a further entry for Dr Knox throws some doubt on the earlier attribution, but it might be that this latter Dr Knox is Vicesimus's son Thomas (1784–1843) who succeeded his father at Tonbridge in 1812. There is no evidence that Godwin read any of Knox's work.
