  • Name: Hunter, Captain
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date:
  • Death Date:

Godwin encounters this Hunter only at Joseph Johnson's dinners which makes it likely that he is related (father, brother?) to Rowland Hunter, Johnson's grandnephew. Rowland had a brother Roger to whom Johnson left £100. There is a possibility that it may be John Hunter (DNB; 1737–1821), naval officer and colonial governor as the rank and dates make it possible. Although note promotion to rear admiral on 2 October 1807, and vice-admiral on 31 July 1810 which, if the same Hunter, Godiwn does not acknowledge.
