1795

6  June  1795

  • Name: Henderson, Sir John
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date: 1752
  • Death Date: 12  December  1817
  • Occupation: Politician

See Thorne, History of Parliament. Henderson was an associate of the Whigs and represented Dunfermiline at Westminster between 1806 and 1817.

The one instance that has been coded seems quite likely as it is so specific: 'dine at Lauderdale's , w. sir J Henderson and Hogg; adv. Moore ; talk of P. W. and republicanism' (from 1795). Henderson is not in the DNB. - but there is a small chance that there could be another Sir J Henderson in the period.

There are also fifteen uncoded refs (one in 1791, the remainder 1815-27) which do not specify 'sir J'. Several at Rodd's. These seem not to refer to the same person and they are left uncoded.

Henderson appears in the 1796 lists under 1795, which accords with the meeting noted above.
