Godwin enters 'Dormers' in the 1796 lists, under 1794. The only ref in this year is 'Call on l. Dormer:' on 12 October. It takes place when Godwin is on the road, between Coventry and Oxford and for this reason can be confidently identfied as relating to the Dormers - in the DNB description of another member of the family, it is referred to as 'an Anglo-Catholic family with large estates in Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire'. Charles Dormer was the current Baron. Godwin also visits in 1795 when visiting Parr who lived close by. A fourth reference (in May 1812, as Sarah Elwes's) is after the 8th Baron's death and probably refers to Charles Dormer, 9th Baron Dormer (1753–1819).
