De Ocheda was librarian to politician and book collector Lord George John Spencer (1758–1834) during the 1790s. Spencer went on to amass the gretest private library in Europe. Prior to this de Ocheda was librarian to Pietro Antonio Crevenna (1726-92) 1785-9. Crevenna was obliged to sell his important collection in 1789 for financial reasons which must have precipitated de Ocheda's departure.
