Byron was a celebrated and celebrity poet. He met Percy and Mary Shelley at Lake Geneva in 1816 and became very close to Percy. He was the father of Godwin's step-daughter, Jane Clairmont's child, Allegra. He spent much of his adult lfe abroad and died fighting for Greek independence.
