There are no letters to Bowring in the Abinger letters.

It seems very probable, however - partly as the dates fit - Bowring came back from the continent in 1822 and first met Godwin in 1824 (it appears as though he sought Godwin's acquaintance and then they come across each other in fashionable Whig and artistic circles, which matches the upward trajectory of Bowring's career - he was still quite young but in the 1820s had become secretary of the London Greek Committee, had become friends with Bentham, and then entered Parliament in the 1830s.

There is also a Miss Bowring mentioned in the diary which slightly increases the probability of the identification as Bowring had a daughter at this time. That said, she appears at a meal in 1827 when she would only be 9 years of age. Children have appeared at meals at this age before but she is unaccompanied by any relations. She may, of course, be a different Bowring altogether.
