10  August  1821

  • Name: Alexander,
  • Gender: Male
  • Birth Date:
  • Death Date: 10  August  1821

Unidentified.

Godwin recorded the death. It may be that this is not in fact a death. Godwin uses 'Death of X' only rarely, and early in the diary. The last such entry is for Charles James Fox. Thereafter 'X dies' is the exclusive form of reference. Although we have been unable to confirm alternative attributions it may be that this refers to a publication by Godwin's publishing house of a book that follows several published in the period that examines a period of early history...to the death of Alexander. See, for example, William Mitford's The history of Greece from the earliest accounts to the death of Alexander, advertised in January 1821. But this remains speculation.
