De Foe (8 April 1830) Possibly the following item first
recorded by WG on
1796-11-30:
Defoe, DanielThe life and strange surprizing adventures of Robinson
Crusoe, of York, mariner: who lived eight and twenty years, all
alone in an un-inhabited island on the coast of America, near the
mouth of the great river of Oroonoque; having been cast on shore
by shipwreak, wherein all the men perished but himself. With an
account how he was at last deliver'd by pyrates. Written by
himself.
1719Conjecture based on WG's having read Selkirk in the British
Museum on the preceding day. WG reads this item in the British
Museum on this date.
