Essays, moral and political were incorporated into Essays and treatises on several subjects (London, 1753-6) 4 vols. 12mo. In both the 1777 and 1788 editions of Essays and treatises on several subjects (Godwin owned the latter), Pt I, Essay V is ‘Of the origin of government.' Pt II, Essay I is ‘Of commerce.'
